Guys & Dolls to run in March 2023 at Mountain Lakes High School

Feb 06, 2023 08:48PM ● By Kristen Totaro

It’s a sure bet — the newly renovated Mountain Lakes High School Performance Center will mount the 1950’s comedy-musical classic Guys & Dolls, featuring dancing high rollers and singing soul-savers. With likable oddball characters, even odder couples, smart lyrics, and perhaps one of the greatest scores in musical theater history, this cast expects to see more than 1,500 patrons purchase tickets for the upcoming March 2-4 shows.

Director Judy Kolek helms this exuberant rollout of tunes by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. The cast of 33 personifies an array of roguish New York characters immortalized in the stories of Damon Runyon. Runyon was an American newspaperman, best known for his short stories celebrating the world of Broadway in New York City that grew out of Prohibition. His gamblers, hustlers, actors, and gangsters you will see on stage will be as vibrant as the rhythms of the city they celebrate.

A special discount will be available for all community members 55 years and older on the Saturday March 4 matinee at 2 pm. Location is 96 Powerville Road, Mountain Lakes.
